Summary: HB0095 bars Utah public employers (including cities) and K–12 education entities from disciplining an employee solely for using gender-specific language in certain circumstances. It also requires any employer policy that mandates accommodating another individual’s gender-specific language preference to include exemptions and written notice of those exemptions.

David's Take: I'm not sure if this is in response to an actual incident or virtue signaling. I would hope that employees are not disciplined solely for use/misuse of gender-specific language. Let's treat all employees with respect and have grace for each other if we slip up.

*General Disclaimer: David's take is is his own personal opinion and is non-legal binding nor is the official position of the Chapter.
