Unpaid Leave

    For Ogden City, it depends. 

    If an employee is on Military Leave, their leave accruals continue. 

    If an employee is on any administrative leave without pay or has an approved exception to be allowed to have leave without pay,  their leave will be prorated based on hours worked in each biweekly pay period.

    We also stop paid leave accruals for employees on unpaid leave, granted we don't prorate unless it's a pay period or more of unpaid leave. Too many manual calculations for us for a couple days of unpaid time.

    Our accruals also stop if there are no hours worked in a pay period.

    Our accruals are based on hours worked, so unpaid leave would not accrue vacation or sick time for us.

    Syracuse City does not allow employees to continue to accrue leave if they have any leave without pay.

    Provo policy states the same. If an employee is on unpaid leave, he or she no longer accrues leave time.

    Our policy states sick and vacation time accruals are paused when someone is on unpaid leave. That has also been the case at other public sector jobs I've had.

    I curious to see what other agencies policies are when it comes to accruing vacation, sick etc when an employee is on upaid leave? Do they continue to accrue it or is it paused?
